Lapped...Twice!

I was lapped twice by a man that is mid to late 60's. No sweat off of my nose! Whitney, however, was not happy. She kept telling me to walk faster and hurry up he is going to lap us and he is old. I walked my 2.5 miles and was happy and sweaty. One day I hope to be lapping people, I dont care how old they are.

Are you kidding me?

I  titled this blog listen to me because I seem to say that on a weekly, if not daily, basis. "Listen to me, take out the trash, put your clothes in the laundry room, and sweep the hall." And of course, what I mean is take out the trash and put a new bag in the trash can, take your clothes to the laundry room and put them into the baskets. They know what I mean. But they are just kids and sometimes I let them slide BUT sometimes I don't. Like yesterday, I bought milk and told Whitney to take the milk into the house. She promptly took it into the house and set it on the kitchen cabinet, because we always keep milk on the cabinet. We like it hot. When I asked her about it, she said that she thought I was going to put it up. I told her she should always put up milk, and let it slide.

Let it slide...that is what I have been doing. I have not been listening to myself. Or rather I have been listening to myself give excuses. "It's too hot to walk, I'll walk in the morning. It's too early, I'll walk this evening." Yesterday as I was walking then running, it felt great. Really great! I could feel my body saying "Hey this isn't so bad. Maybe you can finish a whole lap around the track without stopping." Three and a half weeks ago, I would have said that I don't run unless someone is hurt, and I could not have run around the track. But I listened to my body, held my head high, and ran!

I am proud of my 1 lap. I am proud I listened to myself. I am proud I didn't give any excuses. I am proud that Whitney was watching me.

First Post

Tomorrow, I start Week 3 Day 1 of the Couch to 5K program. The 1st two weeks were not at bad as I expected. The actual running/jogging portion feels really good but I am more than ready when the prompt says "Walk". I am sure that every day will get easier. I am staying motivated by the fact that I signed up for a 5K on September 23, 2012.

I stopped drinking Cokes on January 1, 2012. If you know me, that is a miracle! I also started taking Plexxus Slim in March and have lost about 30 pounds. I feel so much better, especially when I put on clothes that I have not been able to wear for 3 or 4 years.

Now my big issue, my eating habits. I don't think I have ever really eaten healthy. I like sweets!!!
